Mr. Ta Anh Dung in District 8 is a renowned martial arts instructor in Saigon. At the age of 21, he lost a left leg in a waterway accident. |
With courage and perseverance, Dung did not give up. “After many sleepless nights, I thought that my leg could not grow up so I had to try and not give up,” Dung said.
With a great passion for martial arts, he was determined to pursue it, even with only one leg.
The first days of practicing, Dung fell down to the ground many times. |
But after several months, Dung could stand firmly on one leg and his movements became skilful. Dung’s efforts and talent was admired by locals. They brought their kids to see Dung and asked him to teach martial arts.
Dung can also play many sports such as table tennis and swimming.
He was the coach of HCM City Pencak Silat and Muay Thai teams. |
After receiving a martial art master’s degree in 2002, Dung has developed the Kim Ke Tay martial sect and become a well-known name in traditional martial arts in Vietnam.
Currently, he teaches martial arts at night at a school in District 5.
Besides teaching, Dung also works as a part-time newspaper delivery man and does some other jobs. |
“I do not want to depend on others. If I’m still healthy, I will keep working to help my family and myself,” he said.
