Congestion alert as HCMC plans to excavate more roads for public works

A number of streets in downtown Ho Chi Minh City will be dug up starting June for vital infrastructure works, causing congestion.

News website VnExpress quoted the city Department of Transport as saying most of the works are scheduled to finish by the end of this year or early next year.

To enable the works, parts of these streets would be fenced off, it said.

Among those to be blocked are Ton Duc Thang, De Tham, Co Bac, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Tran Hung Dao in District 1, Tran Quoc Thao, Pasteur, Tran Quoc Toan, Hai Ba Trung, Vo Van Tan, and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in District 3, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Xom Chieu, and Ton That Thuyet in District 4 and Hong Bang, Le Hong Phong, and Ngo Nhan Tinh in District 5.

A part of Vo Van Kiet Boulevard will also be dug up for underground cable work.
