Lang Sen (Long An) has been recognized as the 7th Ramsar site of Viet Nam




With total area of 5,030ha, Lang Sen Wetland Reserve covers the entire area of Cajuput Forest Reserve of Dong Thap Muoi, Vinh Loi Afforestation Yard and a part of the area of Vinh Loi and Vinh Dai communes (Tan Hung District). Lang Sen which has wetland ecosystem with swamps, mangrove forests, rice fields, seasonally waterlogged grasslands… becomes an ideal habitat for 156 species of flora and 149 species of fauna, mainly birds and fishes. Some bird species are listed in Red Books of Viet Nam and the world such as red crowned crane, oriental darter and glossy ibis…



The best time to visit Lang Sen Wetland Reserve is late winter and early spring. Lush, green vegetation and fields along with flocks of birds and storks offer the picturesque scenery of Lang Sen.



To Lang Sen, visitors will have interesting and enjoyable experiences in the natural environment and the chance to taste typical specialties of the Mekong River Delta such as boiled snails, fried catfish, grilled snakehead fish rolled in young lotus leaf, sour soup of “ca linh” (henicorhynchus fish) and “dien dien flowers”…



The ceremony to receive the certificate recognizing Lang Sen Wetland Reserve as Ramsar site took place on 27 November 2015.
