A nonstop service between two cities in China and Vietnam is slated for launch in the next two weeks and another one, connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Seoul, will follow suit later this year.
China Southern Airlines will start flying between Guangzhou and Vietnam’s Cam Ranh, a city in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, on June 20, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Saturday.
Cam Ranh is home to an international airport of the same name, which receives domestic and international flights bringing tourists to the province’s famous resort town of Nha Trang.
There will be three weekly Guangzhou – Cam Ranh flights using the Boeing 737-700 aircraft, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The nonstop service was first announced in mid-March, when some 20 Chinese tourism firms traveled to Khanh Hoa to seek cooperation with their local counterparts.
An air charter service between Cam Ranh and the Chinese city of Chengdu was also launched in late January.
While Russians used to outnumber any other group of international tourists at beaches and attractions across Khanh Hoa, those from China are now much easier to find and more Chinese holidaymakers are traveling to the province this summer.
In the meantime, Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet Air announced on Friday it will offer a new service connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the South Korean capital city of Seoul in November.
The inaugural flight will depart from Tan Son Nhat International Airport and arrive at Incheon International Airport on November 7, the airline said in a press release.
There will be seven return flights for the Ho Chi Minh City – Seoul service per week.
The coming new service will enable VietJet Air to operate daily flights to Seoul from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Hanoi – Seoul service was inaugurated in July last year.
