"Tale of Kieu" sets world record

TruyenKieu (the Tale of Kieu) was recognised as ‘The literary work having themost national records in the world’ by the World Records Union onDecember 2, according to the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings). 

 

The record was nominated by the Vietkings and was approved by the WorldRecords Union on the occasion of the 250th birthday anniversary of thegreat poet Nguyen Du and the celebration of his title recognised byUNESCO as a World Cultural Celebrity.

According to the World Records Union, the Tale of Kieu is an epic poemin Vietnamese written by Nguyen Du and is widely regarded as the mostsignificant work of Vietnamese literature with 3,254 verses, written inLuc bat (six-eight) meter.

The World Records Union also stated that the Tale of Kieu has beentranslated into 20 languages with 35 versions and the masterpiece set 27Vietnamese Records over 10 years.

National records set by the Tale of Kieu are in the forms of books,translation, sculptures, silk paintings, choir, calligraphy, and theatreamong others.

The World Records Union’s certificate is scheduled to be granted theVietkings and Management Board of Nguyen Du Vestige Area in Ha Tinh inMarch 2016.
