The ballet, which is part of the monthly Young Melody programme launched by the HBSO in 2011, offers youth a deeper understanding of academic art.
“Long after the end of the war, immortal songs about the indomitable spirit and the pure love of the people who sacrificed for national liberation still remain,” a press release from HBSO said.
“These immortal songs will touch the sacred memory of each person and help them become strong, kind and confident,” the release said.
Choreographed by People’s Artist Kim Quy, Nguyen Phuc Hung and Nguyen Phuc Hai, the ballet’s music was composed by Tran Vuong Thach. People’s Artist Vu Viet Cuong wrote the story. The ballet was created by the city’s Performing Arts Department.
Cuong and Quy, who are married, have contributed a great deal over the years to the development of HBSO and Viet Nam’s dance sector.
Hai and Hung are considered the most talented choreographers in HCM City.
Their recent works, including Nhung Manh Ghep Cua Giac Mo (Dream Puzzles), Cham Tay Vao Qua Khu (Touching the Pass) and Danh Mat Va Tim Lai (Lost and Found), have received high praise from critics and audiences.
Hai is the head of the HBSO Ballet, and Hung is the choreographer and director for all of HBSO’s ballet performances.
Free tickets are available at the HCM City Student Support Centre, 33 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1, and at HBSO’s ticket office at the Opera House at 7 Lam Son Square in District 1.
