Vietnam-RoK cartoon festival to be held in Hanoi

The 2015 Vietnam-Republic of Korea Animation Festival (VKAF) will take place in Hanoi from August 13-16.

Co-organised by the Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam, the VietnamCinema Department, the Vietnam Animation Studio and Gangwon Informationand Multimedia Corporation (GIMC), the event aims to provide a forum forcartoon lovers and boost exchanges in the animation field between theRok and Vietnam.

The RoK has a developed cartoon industry with vast experience inproduction and promotion. Many of RoK’s animated films have successfullybeen introduced to international audience.

This year’s festival is expected to support Vietnamese cartoonproducers to develop their products and introduce them to the worldmarket.

The festival is considered a good occasion for Vietnamese cartoonproducers to learn from their RoK colleagues and introduce theirproducts to international viewers.

The highlight of the VKAF 2015 is a contest for making short cartoons,open to everyone – the three best films will receive further developmentto take part in the Chuncheon international cartoon festival inSeptember in the RoK.

The contest is taking place from June 1 – July 30. The organising board will announce winners on August 10.

Besides the contest, a series of activities, including discussions onproducing cartoons and free animation screenings, will also be heldduring the festival.
