The program, organized by the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO), will feature some international artists, including two beautiful and talented ballet artists, Chloe Glemot (in the roles of Snow Queen and Dewdrop) from France, and Michaela Griffin (Sugarplum Fairy) from South Africa, and Russian conductor Marius Stravinsky. Local ballet dancers who will share the stage are Tran Hoang Yen (Admiral doll), Nguyen Thu Trang (Clara), Ho Phi Diep (Nutcracker), Dam Duc Nhuan (Mr. Drosselmeyer) and Pham The Phuong (Rat King).

“The Nutcracker,” “Swan Lake,” and “The Sleeping Beauty” by Tchaikovsky are among the world’s most famous ballets. The origin of the Nutcracker, a classic Christmas Story, is a fairy tale ballet in two acts centered on a family’s Christmas Eve celebration. It was adapted from the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann and has been choreographed by many popular artists, including Marius Petipa, Alexander Gorsky, Nicholas Sergeyev, Alexandra Fedorova, Willam Christensen, and George Balanchine. Since the 60s, the ballet has been appealed to audiences around the world, especially children.

Previously, Norwegian choreographer who arranged “The Nutcracker” ballet for the U.S.’s Ballet Quad Cities in 1998 received an invitation from HBSO to direct the show in HCMC in 2011 and received a great response from local viewers.

The choreography arrangements have exposed the strengths and skills of local dancers combined with costumes and stage set-up to bring audiences into a fairy tale. This is a good chance for audiences to see artists from the HBSO Ballet and HBSO Female Choir & Symphony Orchestra performing.

Tickets are priced at VND800,000, VND650,000, VND550,000, VND400,000 and VND150,000 (for students only). For booking and delivery, call 08 3823 7419.
