Third The Winner Is... season opens tonight

The third season of reality singing contest Toi La Nguoi Chien Thang,based on the format of the Dutch show The Winner Is… will be broadcaston HCM City Television (HTV) from tonight.

This year’s programme will have 42 soloists, includingamateur and professional singers, celebrities, students and youngpeople, who will compete in head-to-head singing duels.

They will be scored by 101 judges, comprising music fans, critics and journalists led by a celebrity.

Sixteen contestants with the highest scores will enter thequarter-final. After this round, contestants will have a chance to make adeal and leave the show with cash prizes ranging from VND10 million toVND60 million ($480-2,900) if they believe they will not win againsttheir competitors.

The grand winner will receive a cash prize of VND300 million (US$14,300) and a single produced by Universal Asia.

The first eight episodes of the show will be broadcast liveon HTV7 at 9pm every Saturday, while the final four episodes will beaired every Sunday on the same channel and time.
