Chamber music fest to strike chord in HCM City

The Saigon Chamber Music Festival’s second fall series this coming August 1-9 will be led by the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City and span a vast array of instrumental music and composers ranging from the familiar to the obscure.

This year’s opening work From Bach to Blues will be performed at 8pm on August 1 and include Norwegian violinist Atle Sponberg, British cellist Zoe Marlew, and British-Vietnamese pianist Bich Tra.

The highlight of the event will be a concert entitled From Baroque to Broadway at 7pm on August 8 featuring an ensemble of Vietnam’s finest musicians on stage playing 9 violins, 2 violas, 4 cellos, 1 contrabass and 6 pianos.

One standout feature of this year’s fest is that it showcases Vietnamese young talented artists from both HCM City and Hanoi performing a diverse repertoire of solo, duet, trio, and quartet works.

The Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City partnered with Norway’s Transposition Programme to organize the event aiming to provide young aspiring musical talents throughout the nation international talent exposure.
