Concert to celebrate VN, Singapore friendship


VietNamNet Bridge – The HCM City Conservatory of Music will organise a special concert to celebrate Singapore’s 50th National Day and 40 years of collaboration between the two nations on September 25.

Entitled Singapore’s Golden Jubilee&Friendship Viet Nam – Singapore, the concert will be performed at the HCM City Conservatory of Music’s concert hall by the Sai Gon Philharmoic Orchestra, and conducted by Conductor and Music Director Adrian Tan. Two Singaporean guests, violinist Yew Shan and cellist Noella Yan, will perform as soloists.


Famous composition Concerto For Violin and Cello by great German composer Johannes Brahms, as well as temporary works from Viet Nam and Singapore will be performed at the concert.


Violinist Shan Yew has studied at several world-famous music institutes such as the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Belgium, Yale University in the United States and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Australia. He has also been invited to be concertmaster of many orchestras, and has frequently performed as soloist and chamber musician in many concerts worldwide.


Cellist Noella Yan is from a musical family. She has double master’s degrees in both performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan and has performed in many countries as an artist specialising in introducing compositions by temporary musicians.
